Recent Publication Highlights

Most recent publications from the Shiwarski Tissue Engineering Lab

The Shiwarski Tissue Engineering Lab develops human-relevant 3D bioprinted tissue and vascular models to study mechanobiology, disease progression, and therapeutic response. Our research integrates biofabrication, biomaterials engineering, and open-source hardware to create perfusable, mechanically tunable systems that replicate native tissue geometry and function. These platforms enable mechanistic investigation of cardiovascular disease, pulmonary hypertension, thrombosis, and precision diagnostics by bridging fundamental biology with translational bioengineering.

On this site, you can explore our recent peer-reviewed research from the Shiwarski Tissue Engineering Lab advancing 3D bioprinting, vascular tissue engineering, mechanotransduction, and human-relevant disease models. For a full list of all our work, check out All Publications
