Pitt Department of Medicine Features VESSELS/CampBioE Program

The University of Pittsburgh Department of Medicine’s newsletter, Code Blue and Gold, recently spotlighted the VESSELS (Vascular Educational Summer Session for Emerging Laboratory Scientists) program, run in partnership with the Department of Bioengineering’s CampBioE 2.0 initiative. The feature highlights how high school students in grades 9–12 are introduced to vascular bioengineering, tissue engineering, and 3D bioprinting through a hands-on curriculum spanning CAD design, bioprinter conversion, and FRESH bioprinting of hydrogel-based vascular scaffolds.

The article notes that the program has grown significantly this year, expanding from 16 to 32 high school scholars and adding a second week due to strong demand.
